While the world had ground to a halt during the pandemic, there were a few visionaries in Edmonton that recognized an incredible opportunity despite the uncertainties in the health, business, and nightlife spheres. Within half a year of the closures at the beginning of 2020, Edmonton lost one of its most institutional pubs, The Billiards Club, a 27-year fixture in the top floor of Old Strathcona’s historic Post Office building (built in 1910), to the dismay of university students and Whyte Avenue regulars of all ages.
The company behind Hudsons Canada’s Pub, jumped on the open space and got the conceptual ball rolling in February 2021 with the help of a self-professed (but certainly not untrue!) DREAM TEAM at ZGM Marketing‘s office in Edmonton.
Illustrators, Copy Writers, Motion Animators, Web Designers, Art Directors, Interior Designers, Tradespeople, Neon Sign Specialists, Social and Digital Media Folk assembled to create some of the most intricately-designed interior mural graphics and environmental accents that we have ever had the pleasure of producing and installing, not to mention an impressive marketing campaign and customer experience for what is now, the most exciting and unique nightlife destination on Whyte Avenue in we-don’t-know-how-long!
A total 1600sq/ft of various digitally-printed materials were carefully applied to all of the surfaces shown in our gallery below; ranging from the exterior menu boards, the entirety of the main stairwell walls and back feature wall, historic brick surfaces, dimensional way-finding and wall lettering elements, a custom-built giant ping-pong paddle, and neon light boxes.
We highly recommend stopping in for a drink, dish, or table tennis battle royale!!
